Intro

Haagsche Stadsfiets is an organization that offers bicycle rentals at two locations: Scheveningen and Den Haag Centrum. 

The subsequent General Terms and Conditions are applicable to all offers and rental agreements (hereinafter referred to as rental receipts). Upon renting one or more bicycles or leasing a bicycle, the customer acknowledges having perused these General Terms and Conditions and agrees to abide by them.

For the purpose of enhancing readability, singular forms of terms are predominantly utilized in these General Terms and Conditions; nonetheless, it is essential to note that they are equally applicable to their plural counterparts.

In instances where the masculine form is utilized in these General Terms and Conditions, it should be understood to encompass the feminine form where relevant.

Article 1 - General

  • When renting a bicycle, no deposit is necessary.
  • A valid ID is necessary for renting a bicycle, whereas a business rental only necessitates an offer agreement.
  • Requests for bicycles to be handled with care.
  • All bicycles come equipped with AXA locks and specialized mortise locks.
  • Endeavor to utilize secure bike racks when parking your bike. Guarded bike racks, known as Biesieklette, are conveniently situated at train stations and within the city center, providing complimentary usage. Dedicated parking areas for bicycles are also accessible in the city center.

Article 2 - Insurance, damage, repair, loss or theft

  • Bicycle repairs fall under the responsibility of Haagsche Stadsfiets, except in cases where the damage is attributable to the renter.
  • Haagsche Stadsfiets reserves the right to charge the renter for repair costs incurred due to negligent bicycle usage.
  • The renter is not authorized to conduct any repairs on the bicycle without prior permission from Haagsche Stadsfiets.
  • In the event of any defects, theft, or loss of the bicycle, it is imperative to promptly notify Haagsche Stadsfiets within 24 hours. This can be done via phone at +31(0)70 355 40 60 or through email at info@fietsverhuurzuidholland.nl.
  • Throughout the rental period, the renter bears responsibility for any damages resulting from negligence, loss, theft, and associated costs, encompassing storage fees or improper storage of the bicycle.
  • In case of theft, the renter is required to acquire the bicycle specifics from the rental company, notify the police about the theft, submit a copy of the police report either in person or digitally (at info@fietsverhuurzuidholland.nl), and, if feasible, surrender the bicycle key to Haagsche Stadsfiets.
  • Theft coverage includes an excess fee. For standard bicycles, an excess of € 150,00 applies with the bicycle key, while tandems, cargo bicycles, electric cargo bicycles, and electric bicycles incur excess fees of € 200,00, € 200,00, € 250,00, and € 200,00 respectively.
  • If the key to the bicycle is lost, reimbursement must be made for the value of the bicycle or cargo bike.
  • The damage to the bicycle is covered and will be promptly repaired.

*Fees will be levied in cases of confirmed abuse.
**Vandalism or confirmed abuse will be subject to standard pricing rates.

Article 3 - Liability

Haagsche Stadsfiets cannot be held liable to compensate for damages resulting directly or indirectly from various causes.

  • Damage resulting from the intentional acts or negligence of the tenant.
  • Damage resulting from defects that cannot be attributed to Haagsche Stadsfiets.
  • Damage may arise if the renter misuses the bicycle or disregards the specified instructions for proper usage and safety precautions.
  • Haagsche Stadsfiets disclaims any responsibility and liability for accidents or hazardous situations arising from bicycle use.
  • Haagsche Stadsfiets is not responsible for any damages arising from the temporary or complete non-utilization of the bicycle.
  • Haagsche Stadsfiets bears no responsibility for any type of harm, be it personal injury, fatality, property loss, or damage to third parties arising from bicycle usage. The utilization of the bicycle is solely at your own risk.
  • Haagsche Stadsfiets cannot be held accountable for any fines incurred by the renter during the bicycle's use.

Article 4 - Cancellation, modification and refund

Corporate group rental

  • Changes should be communicated with a minimum of 48 hours' notice, and cancellations are free of charge within the same time frame.
  • Should cancellations or alterations not be promptly communicated, half of the rental fee will be charged, with no option for reimbursement.
  • Bicycles that are delivered but remain unused will incur charges without the option of a refund.
  • These conditions apply irrespective of weather circumstances.
  • Cancellations and/or changes must be formally submitted in writing.

Private rental

  • Changes are processed without incurring any additional charges.
  • Refunds are not available for same-day cancellations; however, date changes can be made at no additional cost.
  • Cancellations made with a minimum of 24 hours' notice will be eligible for a 50% refund, subject to a € 4,50 administration fee deduction. The refund, minus the fee, will be processed within 48 hours.
  • Cancellations made with a minimum of 48 hours' notice will be eligible for a full refund, less an administration fee of € 4,50. The refund will be processed within 48 hours.
  • Cancellations or modifications should be communicated in written form at least 24-48 hours prior to the scheduled event.
  • A refund will not be issued for bicycles returned before the agreed-upon end date of the rental period.
  • These conditions are applicable regardless of the weather conditions.

Article 5 - Complaints

  • Complaints should be reported to Haagsche Stadsfiets within 24 hours of the rental.
  • For special activities or services, different and/or additional conditions may apply. These will be made known to the customer.
  • Obvious (writing) errors and mistakes in the information published and/or provided by 'Haagsche Stadsfiets' are binding on 'Haagsche Stadsfiets'.
  • These General Terms and Conditions and all transport agreements are governed by Dutch law.
  • Disputes, which cannot be resolved by the parties themselves, should be submitted to the competent court in The Hague.
